China's major country diplomacy is one of the core pursuits of President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China. Since China's rise on the world stage as the second biggest economy compared to the US economy, the whole world has been amazed at the economic achievements of China. According to Professor Martin Jacques (author of "When China Rules the World"), at the rate of 6 to 7% annual growth of its economy in contrast to 2.5 to 3% annual growth of the US economy, China will double its GDP in 2020. In just 40 years since the opening up of China to the world by Deng Xiaoping in 1978 and the reforms of the Chinese socialised-capitalist economic system which is known as Socialism with Chinese Characteristics, China has built the world's largest network of infrastructures such as expressways, bridges, railways and HSR trains, seaports, airports, modern cities, and a strong military comprising ICBMs, battle ships, aircraft carriers, fighter jets and submarines and sent Taikonauts and satellites into space orbit, trips to the Moon and Mars and achieved tremendous advances in scientific and technological innovations in all its endeavours.
In Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Nanjing, Quangzhou, Xiamen, Shenzhen and many cities, China had created the world's largest middle-class of more than 300 millions who enjoy high standards of living comparable to the US, Europe and other developed countries. China has lifted 700 millions of its citizens out of poverty and is determined to eradicate the poverty of the remaining 40 millions who live in the rural areas by 2020. China has 5,000 years of history and priceless treasures and artifacts dating back to its ancient dynasties. Xi Jinping used to say: "If you wish to know what China was a 1000 years ago, go to Xian, what China was 500 years ago, go to Beijing and what China was 100 years ago, go to Shanghai.
